Dennis Hobson reckons Jamie McDonnell will survive Stuart Hall test – Boxing news
The founder and chief of Dennis Hobson Promotions, Dennis Hobson, reckon his stable fighter Jamie McDonnell will defeat the current holder of the BBBofC British bantamweight title Stuart Hall on September 3, 2011.
The former British Champion and the current Commonwealth and European bantamweight title holder Jamie McDonnell is set to face the Stuey, Stuart Hall, in a huge domestic showdown on September 3, 2011 at the Doncaster Dome, England.
This mega showdown between McDonnell and Hall will have all three titles on the line, Hall’s Lonsdale belt and McDonnell’s European and Commonwealth titles and Hobson believes McDonnell will engrave his name on all three belts on the fight night.
Hobson told the media this is a very important fight for McDonnell as Britain’s leading boxing promoter thinks a good domestic showdown really helps in building a fighter’s career.
Hobson, who has worked with the likes of Roy Jones Jr, Clinton Woods and Ricky Hatton, claimed he could have taken McDonnell to the world scene but since it is a highly anticipated domestic showdown he opted for it.
The 31-year-old, Hall, has never been defeated in the ring as of yet as he has won all of his 11 professional fights (1 draw) including 7 by the way of a knockout.
Therefore Hobson admitted it will be a tough night for McDonnell but on the same note he remarked it will get McDonnell a lot of experience before he goes for a world title shot.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “Jamie is a lot further forward than Stuart in boxing and some people will see it as a step back to fight a domestic level fighter, but there’s nothing like a good domestic scrap to build up your credibility”
“We could have moved onto the world scene but we’ve decided to take this fight instead and it’s going to be a tough one. We want to get Jamie as much experience in as possible because when we go for a world title, we want to win it,” Hobson added.
