Lillee appreciated Indian national selectors for drafting Aaron into the squad for the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379.
"He is a rare talent. I'm extremely happy that Varun has made it to the national squad. He is young and needs some time before he flourishes at the highest level. I am confident he would excel against England if given a chance," said Lillee who first saw
Aaron at MRF Pace Foundation.
Aaron shot to prominence following his excellent performance in the recent Emerging Players Tournament where he steered Men in Blue to glory by claiming 10 wickets in the competition.
He was praises by the whole cricketing fraternity within India and subsequently the team management brought him into the national crew in order to strengthen the pace bowling attack. The Indian bowling attack could not make any impact in the Test series,
as the mighty Englishmen hammered them the way they wanted to.
The injury issues have always been a cause of concern for the World Champions. Talking about Indian fast bowlers’ tradition of losing speed after making a fantastic start to their international level, the former Aussie seamer shared, “Yes, I agree that their
speed has dropped. The main reason for this is that they are bowling too much, playing match after match, without a break. They get injured and when they come back, they are lacking in speed.”
Lillee also suggested a way out to prevent bowlers from fitness problems, saying that there must a proper break between two different series, so that the players can relax and regain their energy.
Furthermore, he asked Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to initiate a process to generate of pool of young fast bowlers who can replace seniors when required.
