Dennis Lillee should be the idol for every young fast bowler, says Brett Lee – Cricket News Update
Australian Pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419 has expressed that the legendary Dennis Lillee has always been his role model and all upcoming bowlers should look to him for inspiration.
The former Australian fast bowler recently decided to step down from his position at the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai, where he worked for over two decades and helped India produce a number of quality young speedsters.
While praising one of the game’s greatest bowlers, Lee revealed that the 62-year-old has greatly helped him develop as a bowler..
The New South Welshman, who is considered to be one of the fastest bowlers in modern-day cricket, urged the youngsters to look up to Lillee, whose experience can help them improve.
"I have been playing under the guidance of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dennis-Keith-Lillee-c53639 from a very young age - since the time I was 16 year old. He has really supported my career. He sorted my action and helped me with my bowling. I have always looked up to Lillee as my role model and
I think he is a great idol for all upcoming fast bowlers," Lee expressed.
The Perth-born former cricketer ruled the world of cricket during 1970s and 1980s and grabbed more than 450 wickets at the world-stage. Lillee averaged 23.92 and 20.82 in Tests and ODIs respectively, which are extra-ordinary stats for a fast bowler.
Historically, India has had a dearth of genuine fast bowlers but Lillee has done a commendable job at the Pace Foundation.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s popular cricket commentator, Harsha Bhogle also hailed the great cricketer’s services for international cricket and Indian sport in particular. The cricket journalist feels that Lillee has helped the country produce many fast bowlers, who are currently
serving the Indian team.
He credited the former Aussie sportsman for Zaheer Khan’s progress in international cricket and thinks that the left-arm fast bowler would not have been as influential without the help of such a great mentor.
“I think Lillee's greatest contribution was the awareness that India could produce fast bowlers. Zaheer has to be the most outstanding contribution to Indian cricket. There have been other bowlers as well," Bhogle believes.
