Dennis Rodman says he never spoke with Michael Jordan or Scottie Pippen off court – NBA News
NBA icon Dennis Rodman has claimed in an interview that he never spoke to the legendary Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen during his time with the Chicago Bulls.
The troika was one of the most dominating and well primed one that the game has ever seen. Jordan, Pippen and Rodman were simply unstoppable in the second half of 1990’s. Playing for the Chicago Bulls, they helped the Bulls win
their second three-peat. In the 1995-1996 season, the first year when the three played together, the Bulls won 72 games - a feat that has yet to be matched.
Many people believed that these three had as great an off-court relationship as they had on the court. But, Rodman cleared the whole picture recently when he shed light on his relationship with Jordan and Pippen in an interview
on “In Depth with Graham Bensinger.
“Well, I think it was important for me to go in there and win. I don’t have a job to speak to people. My job is to collate and understand how people work and make people believe in the fact that [I] belong there. Talking to people
will come. Relating to people will come. If they see you performing and doing your job and being with the group, that’s all I want. Me and Scottie — we’re cool today. We’re a little older, a little wiser. We’re cool today. And me and Scottie never had a conversation.
Me and Scottie and Michael never had a conversation in three years in Chicago. Only time we had a conversation was on the court, and that was it.”
Dennis Rodman played for the Bulls for almost three years. He was traded from the San Antonio Spurs in 1995, but quickly adapted the new environment. The Chicago Bulls then head coach Phil Jackson helped him a-lot in his very first
year with the team, both with his attitude and the game.
At the end of the season, Rodman averaged 14.9 rebounds per game and won the rebounding title. He played for two more seasons with Jordan and Scottie Pippen after which he headed to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Before joining the Bulls, Rodman had a brilliant career with the Detroit Pistons, who drafted him as the 27th pick in the 1986 NBA draft. He played almost six years with them and established himself as one of the most
physically dominating player on the paint, a guy who was forwards feared running into the lane. He also played for the Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks in his illustrious career, which ended with 5 NBA rings.
