Denon AVR-681 powers on and shuts down

Question

I recently purchased a used damaged receiver:  Denon AVR 681.  The unit powers on, cycles and then shuts off -- goes into standby. This seems to be a common complaint.  Can anyone point me to a possible source of the problem, and how to correct.  The unit was used, but an inspection of the interior appears to be in order. Thanks.
