Question:

Denon or Onkyo?

The other day i went into an AV shop to purchase the Onkyo 605. When i asked about it, the kind gentlemen showed me a Denon 2807 that was on offer for the same price.

Does anybody have any information about the Denon. Is it a better buy than the Onkyo?

Thanks in advance

the 2807 is last years model. the 2808 is the current model out. features packed machine that is everything you could want in a reciever at this price level. not to knock onkyo but dot the comparison. denon is the way to go.

  2. Both of those are very good receivers. Try them both out, and pick the one that is easier for you to operate and/or sounds better.

  3. Receivers in the same price range are pretty similar in their video requirements. There may be a difference in sound quality between the two,but you get what you pay for.All Receivers are compromised by using a single power supply for all three sections. The Pre-Amp is the heart of the system but also the most affected, which degrades sound quality.A separate Pre-Amp/Processor and  5,6,or7 channel Power Amplifier will beat the most expensive Receiver in terms of sound quality all the time.

If sound quality is important to you then listen to both and pick the one that sounds best to you,.They may sound the same to you ,if so, take your pick.

  4. Onkyo and Denon are arguably of the same quality.  I think it will just depend on which brand offers you the most preferable features and the best ergonomics for your taste.

For me, I would choose the Onkyo every time.  I have had reliability issues with Denon's gear at more than one occasion.

  5. Hear them out with the other parameters being kept same. Choose the one that you like more. Trust your own ears than anyone else's.

You can compare the specifications too but go by the quality rather than by figures.
