I've had god-knows-how-many questions, but unfortunately there are 2 remainding that I can not figure out. Any help would be appreciated- thanks. 10 points for correct answer(s)!

Mercury is traded by the "flask," a unit that has a mass of 34.5 {kg}. What is the volume of a flask of mercury if the density of mercury is 13.5 {g/mL}?

A thief plans to steal a gold sphere with a radius of 28.4 cm from a museum. If the gold has a density of 19.3 cm^3, what is the mass of the sphere? [The volume of a sphere is V=(4/3)(pi)(radius^3)}

  1. 1. 2.55 L  (2550 mL)

    2. 1850.89 kg  (1,850,890 g)

    Do you need to show the work?

  2. 1..Volume = Mass / Density

    34.5kg x 1,000g/kg = 34,500g.

    Volume = 34,500g / 13.5g/mL = 2,555.6mL.

    (Check: 2,555.6mL x 13.5g/mL = 34,500g = 34.5kg).

    2..Mass of sphere = Volume x Density.

    = 1.333 x 3.142 x 28.4cm x 28.4cm x 28.4cm.

    V = 95,938 cc

    D = 19.3g/cc

    V x D = 95,938cc x 19.3g/cc = 1,851,606g = 1,851.6kg.
