I did this 2 year course back in high school. We had one chair that was for left handed people, so I always got that. Im about to take a 9 week Dental Assistant course, in which Im sure I'll have to do everything right handed, will it be easy for me to learn everything right handed even tho Im stronger with my left since Iam a lefty?

  1. it doesn't matter. every dentist works differently and most are not as strict about how you hand the instruments as the course make it seem, as long as it is done safely and timely. i am right handed and i preffered working with left handed dentists.

  2. Since the majority of dentists are right handed, won't make a difference. You'll work from the right side of the chair. If you work for a leftie, it may seem more natural for you. I have worked for both and can manage both equally well.Good luck and don't stress out over the classes. As the others have said, most docs will want to teach you "their" way, regardless of your training.

  3. it doesn't matter if you're left-handed. Enjoy your courses!

  4. It doesn't matter if you are left handed in dentistry. You have to use both hands regardless.
