Right, I'm going for a Dentist Appointment/CheckUp and i know he's gunna say "You need braces" - Because i have one wonky tooth, its only one, and on the top jaw thing, will he just put 'em on tht tooth, or tht top jaw? & "You should cut down on fizzy drinks" - which im trying to do!!

My Questions Are:

I Have one wonky tooth, and im sure i need braces will i have train tracks or the ones you pull out, and will it just be on the top or the whole mouth - teeth, or will it just be around that tooth?

&

Does it hurt when you have your dentist clean your teeth, and what age can you have it done

  1. well sometimes people are very lucky and only get braces on just their top or bottom rows...

but more often then not they get them on both top AND bottom...i would have to guess that you will unfortunately fall into the category that needs both rows...there are probaably little itty bitty things weird about the teeth on your bottom row that you just dont realize...believe, after youve had braces you see all the tiny difference it has made in your teeth. i know that i saw big differences on some of my teeth that i didnt think there was a single thing wrong with in the first place!

you can start going to dentist appts as early as possible...i remmeber going when i was like 5 or 6...

while theyre cleaning my teeth? no it doesnt hurt..if its your first time though it is strange having someone work on your teeth. dont worry its nothing to sweat about!

sometimes afterwards, my teeth feel a little sore (and thats not every time). but i have never had to take a painkiller after having a dentist appt.

  2. Well, I am going to the dentist tomorrow.

If the hygenist cleans your teeth, it doesn't hurt. If it dies you have something wrong with your gums.

As for the fizzy drinks - it isn't the fizzy part you should worry about, it is the sweetener Aspartame.

  3. It depends on how the rest of your teeth are lining up.  Your teeth may look straight to you, but the dentist can see things you can't.

He/she may only put them on the top, or you may be able to use the type that are removable (in the US they have InvisAlign which are clear trays that you wear while not eating).  I've never heard of braces for just one tooth - they usually cover most of the teeth in order to use the wires/brackets to move the wonky teeth into line.

Ask questions - they won't do anything to you until you say so, (and until the payments are sorted out :-)

Good Luck - it 's worth it (I'm an old lady and I have braces)

  4. It's really hard to answer the braces question...for just one tooth, I doubt you would have the full train tracks, but he may see other problems.

I doubt he will want to clean your teeth if you are a young teen, as they won't need it it. Does not hurt, but a bit uncomfortable.

Get as much done as you can..as soon as you turn 18 you have to pay a small fortune for dental work..and that's if you can even find a dentist to take you.
