Question:

Dental Fillings Pain level

OK, so tomorrow, I have to get some fillings done. Due to my history of being um... over dramatic, my dentist gave me Valium to take before the appointment and also said he'd give me the laughing gas. So, how bad can I expect it to be and will the valium be effective enough to let me sleep through at least the first couple shots?

  1. It is not going to be bad at all, the nitrous will help you get through the first couple of shots then your mouth will start to get numb and you will not feel the others, if you expect it to be bad you will tense up and that will make it worse, do you have a mp3, ipod player, listen to it and keep your eyes closed.  i have had 3 year olds get fillings, you can do it.  if at anytime you experience any pain be sure to let the dentist know, i tell our patients to raise their right hand at the wrist if anything is bothering them.  relax, you will do fine.

  2. The Shots don't hurt at all they do them in an angle and way so that you don't feel it.

  3. You'll be fine. I had to get mine done without valium and without anesthesia due to allergic reactions in the past. I didn't die, so you'll be fine :].
