Hey people-

This may only be a question for people who have been through this process and dentists, but I am getting oral surgery Friday and when I do, I am getting my wisdom teeth extracted and a bone graft and the titanium posts for dental implants put in. How much pain am I to expect?

  1. Everyone experiences pain differently.  But you can expect some.  that is why the Oral Surgeon will prescribe you painkillers and inflammatory.  Take them!

  2. I can answer this question from experience. I had all my teeth pulled implants placed and my new teeth attached in one surgery. I had bone grafts from my own bone that they chipped up. You will not hurt during the procedure. I was only numbed and not sedated. I can say that you will hurt from the wisdom teeth extractions more so than the dental implants.  I was fine as long as I did as they instructed. They told me to take my pain meds 30 minutes before they were due to keep ahead of the pain. Keep hydrated. Drink lots of water. If you get dehydrated your pain will increase and you will get dizzy. Keep ice on your face and prop yourself up and do not sleep flat or you will swell more.

I made a website (it's mine) of things that helped me and my kids during their dental surgeries.

Look at this and also look at the tips and tricks.
