Dental assistant to dental hygeinist and then dentist?

Is it possible to do that?

If so, how many years of the OVERALL process.

  1. Every state is different,   but usually you can be trained as a Dental Assistant in one year,    it takes 2 years to become a licensed Dental Hygienist,  and to become a dentist varies depending on what type of dentist you become,  but roughly 5-8 years.    

    You don't have to go in that order though,  many Dental Assistants skip right up and become Dentists without ever becoming a hygienist.
