Question:

Dentist: Immigration to Australia?

Dentisry is on MODL now, and if a dentist passed all Board exams set my ADC,

1- Can he directly search for a job and work in Australia and apply while working for immigration

2- or He got to lodge his immigration application and wait for another year or two to get his acceptance?

3- is there any chance after successfully passing all those exams (ADC and Medical...) that cost me (including the trip to Australia to sit for the clinical exam) more than 10000 US dollars to get a negative reply to my application?

4- What is best city where I can find work as dentist (in private or public sectors)?

Thanks to everyone

  1. 1) You can't work in Australia unless your visa allows you to work, but if you're already here, there's nothing to stop you from looking for work.

    2) As dentistry is on the MODL, and MODL applications receive priority processing, it won't take anything like a year or two for acceptance. Something under 6 months and probably less can be expected.

    3) If you've passed the required dentistry exams, have sufficient points on the points test, have achieved high enough IELTS scores and have no health or character issues, it is very unlikely indeed that you would be rejected.

    4) All Australian cities need dentists (that's why it's on the MODL). If you have any problems finding work in the cities, regional centres are desperately in need of dentists.

Don't blow your chances by working illegally! Professionals who work illegally are usually caught and deported. It won't take long to get approval and the wait is worth while.

  2. this a public forum and i think you will be struggling to find someone with answers to questions like these.

  3. You need to have a valid visa to start work, so yes I'm afraid you have to wait until your visa is approved. If you fit all the criteria for permanent residency and working as a dentist in Australia then I can't see why it would not be approved.

You will find the most work in regional areas, generally the more remote the more work available for health professionals in Australia. Big cities such as Sydney will have the least work available, although there is work available in all parts of Australia.

You should contact the Australian Dental Association for more information, they will have a magazine or newsletter with dentist positions vacant, and all the other information you need.

  4. I can't help however I have to say. The Dentist is the only man I am scared of on this planet. Dead set scares me to death.
