Question:

Dentist in Modesto for my cat?

I moved to Modesto about 2 weeks ago and brought my elderly cat. He's about 15 and getting very thin. I know this happens when a cat gets older, but I'm pretty sure he needs a tooth pulled. I have very little money and no job yet. Can you guide me to some low cost care for him?

  1. Linda do you think that he has an abscess or infection?  Do you have a pet supply where you are- ?  If you do then look up the doses and types of antibiotics for cats- you can find it anywhere- if you can not purchase antibiotics where you are without the vet- than there is antibiotics in the fish department at your pet food store- I used this when I was in college for a bad tooth and it was just fine- I am certainly not prescribing medications- what you do with this info is your business- but the antibiotics there are humane grade although the store package by law says that it is not for human consumption.  The antibiotic of choice for cat's teeth is amoxicillin- but there are others that may help you threw this crisis- Your cat's health is your responsibility and it is up to you care for him-  search for feline antibiotics at the on line pet pharmacy- it will tell you the dosage- usually 50 mg- find out what the store carries and go from there -

  2. Contact the local animal shelter. They may have or be able to refer you to a veterinarian who will either be low cost or work with you.
