Hi, big swelling in my lower jaw under tooth 27

Assistant took xray of teeth 28-32. Doctor said, "It's my sense that 31 is the bad one.. Let's pull it today". He pulled it.

I guess he never verified that the assistant that she took the wrong x-ray.

I'm left with these questions:

Xray of wrong tooth,

Not even sure it is a tooth problem

Really a need to pull tooth?

Is there really a need to pull tooth today?

compensation for me?

  1. First, you need to find a new dentist.  Have them take X-rays to determine whether or not Tooth 27 does in fact need to be pulled, or if it can be saved by a root canal.  None of us can tell you that.  You should do this ASAP.

Second, as to compensation.  The first dentist will probably only offer to pull #27 for free.  But it is my opinion that  you should get more than that, perhaps even a fake tooth/bridge as a replacement - for free.

So, my suggestion would be to first get the opinions from the second dentist.  Discuss your original problem with him (not the compensation part, just yet).  Try not to mention any names to the second dentist because they just may know eachother.

Then, take the findings of dentist #2 to an attorney.  I think that you may have a case here, and you could not only get the bridge but perhaps a bit of added compensation on top of that.  I am not sue crazy, but this does seem to me to be negligent.

    Good luck!

  2. Talk to a lawyer.  I think you can actually sue if they removed the wrong tooth, but I would talk to a lawyer before talking to the dentist's office.  That's a HUGE mistake!

I hate to run straight into getting lawyers involved, but they did pull a permanent tooth.

  3. i would be soooo stinking mad yes there should be compensation involved, call a lawyer asap.
