I went to the dentist today because the right lower side of my mouth hurt. I suspected it was my wisdom teeth coming in. I got the referal from 1800 dentist. I get to the dentist they took an x-ray and my wisdom tooth is coming in, however he said it's impacted into my jaw bone, the x-ray looked like that was the problem to me. So he sticks a suringe full of peroxide in my tooth (the exposed part of the lower right wisdom tooth) to flush out the bacteria that was making my mouth hurt, wich is also fine. He then told me to take the suringe home to do the same thing tonight but he told me "if you get cought with that dont tell them were you got it" is this right? then he told me to keep the paper apron thing around my neck, so i asked if i could keep the alligator clips that hold it on because they come in handy, the dentist then says "no those are my roach clips" oh and the best part i paid $80 for the suringe full of peroxide. Does this sound right to anybody? im confused

  1. Did he recommend extraction when the infection clears up?

Asking you to keep quiet about the syringe sounds not on the up and up.  I represent a dental coverage company that will give you discounted fee for service of about 30 - 80% depending on the service provided.  Please go to my website:  www.mybenefitsplus.com/ejohnson276 and click on "find providers" My contact is on the site.  All the Best.

  2. no you should tell his boss because if you were to get caught with it and go to jail then what would you do??? so call the office and talk to the manager wich you should have done before you left but still do this!!!

  3. umm!!! i don't think that this sounds right to me! he should not have done anything or given you anything that you can not tell people about and i dont think its safe to do it yourself at home it could be dangerous well thats just my opinion. Its not right at all!Hope this and otehr answers help you to make the right choice:)

  4. it doesnt to me.

  5. Let me help you feel better.

It seems everyone agrees the problem causing all of your pain is the wisdom tooth,  that is half covered up by your gums,  and half slanted sideways (impacted).   Food and germs do get stuck under the gum flap,  and the right thing to do,  was clean that out with the syringe,  and give it to you to take home so you can do the same.     I suspect he told you the best route is an oral surgeon,  who specializes in taking out tricky teeth,   and doing so with a lot less discomfort than general dentists.   Most oral surgeons offer the opportunity to have you sleep through the procedure.

You really didn't pay $ 80 for a syringe and peroxide.   You paid for an emergency visit (just like an emergency room visit at the hospital costs several hundred dollars no matter if they do anything or not).       Usually x-rays vary from $ 40- $140,  so I don't know if your $ 80 included that or not.

What you paid  $80 for is an emergency care visit,   maybe x-rays,  a referral to an oral surgeon,  and a cleansing of the area,  and instructions on how to care for your tooth until it can be taken out.     If you have insurance,  this all should be covered.    If you don't,   $ 80 is still a great price compared to some other dentists.

What your dentist is guilty of...........is a bad sense of humor.

  6. Well i don't think that she should have to pay $80

and i don't think he should have given you it to take home
