Question:

Dentistry and false teeth?

I went to the dentist as the new teeth were rubbing and she took off some at the back. Point is they fit better but the edge is sharp. How long will this take to be less sharp or any ideas on what to do.

If I go back to the dentist she cannot take more off else the plate would break.

Ideas please if you are a dentist or dental nurse.

It is not a joke so don't answer if all you want is brownie points

  1. If she removed so much from the gum side that it's sharp like a knife and it's thin then the only way to fix it is to add some acrylic to the outside portion so it won't be knife sharp.  This can be done in the office with quick cure acrylic.  Good luck!

  2. i am not in the dental field but i have to have my 2 front teeth out after i have my impression done  and my dentist told me he is going to give me a partial is that what you are having he said that he will put it in right after the teeth are pulled he also said that if they are sharp or hurt he would file it down is your s dentures or a partial i hope you get it resolved i am not looking forward to getting mine

  3. GO back to your Dentist ! It definitely can be smoothened and any extra neednt be removed for that. But leaving a sharp end which can bruise your oral cavity is a big problem. It will definitely not smoothen on its own but if your tongue is a polishing disc!!  Please go back to your dentist as she cant leave a sharp end like that.

  4. She has to polish it otherwise it will cut your tongue.  She does not have to grind anymore off she just has to make it smooth it will take a long time to get smooth with your own tongue and it will cut it and make it raw.  Let her know it is sharp and rough.  It sounds like its too thin for you to do it by yourself you might break it.
