Dentistry question?

It seems like no matter how much I brush, flosh and mouth rinse my mouth out the more cavities I get. Is there a type of tooth paste, dental floss, rinse I can buy to detect all my time spend at the dentist.

I know I'm doing everything correctly. My dentist says theres nothing i can do about it but, I think thats a joke and scam to have me come in more often.

I use Crest tooth paste

floss

Crest rinse

* I dont eat a lot of sweets and pop.

Any ideas on what I can do or purchase that can prevent me from getting cavities filled every 6 months?

thanks

  1. Ask your dentist to call in a prescription strength toothpaste like "Prevadent," It has a higher fluoride content so that if you use it correctly it can help fight cavities.

Also, try not to rinse with water after brushing your teeth or using a fluoride mouth rinse- because that reduces the effect of the fluoride.

  2. maybe you are over doing the cleaning and abraiding the enamel so you will get cavities more frequently- you may also be one of the unlucky people whose teeth are naturally weak.

yogurt and fruit juices are also quite corrosive for enamel- so don't overdo them

maybe a flouride mouthwash will help? Though it will only be topical it might just help slow down any cavities.

  3. Get a waterpick... brush, floss then use the waterpick. If that doesn't work see another dentist.

  4. Keep in mind that some people are genetically predisposed to have bad teeth.  I would ask the dentist about having a more intense cleaning done --quadscale cleaning -- instead of the regular cleaning.
