Denver Broncos OC Mike McCoy talks about new offence led by QB Peyton Manning - NFL News
Denver Broncos got the biggest available prize in this year’s free agency as they scooped up free-agent quarterback, Peyton Manning who had just been released by his former team for 13 seasons the Indianapolis Colts.
The arrival of Manning has led to a big change in the manner the Broncos prepare for the upcoming season in training camp, with the quarterback having strong input in the style of the offence he would like to lead.
Manning has wasted no time in getting to know his teammates and is currently working hard with both wide receivers, Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker in order for all of them to be on the same page.
Offensive coordinator, Mike McCoy speaking with the team’s official website said that the offence continues to be developed keeping Manning’s strengths in mind and how best to utilise his skill sets.
"It all starts with the quarterback. We have to look at the quarterback and (ask), 'What does he like? What are the things that he is excited to do?'”
McCoy also went on to praise his new quarterback and said that Manning takes a deep interest in every detail about the Broncos offence.
“I'll tell you what: The way Peyton works and the way he wants to work is unbelievable. He doesn't want to leave any detail out. He's going to be very meticulous in everything he does."
Manning is one of the best quarterbacks in the league and even at 36-years-old looks ready to take a new start in the NFL.
McCoy continued by saying that both wide receivers, Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas were looking to make the most of the opportunity they have to be led by the four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP).
"They know an opportunity like this doesn't come around very often. To be able to play with a quarterback we have now, they're doing everything possible to make sure they know every little detail of everything we're doing.”
The Broncos made it to the playoffs last season after one of the worst starts to the season thanks to quarterback, Tim Tebow’s wonderful comeback performances.
However, this season will be completely different under Manning as the team targets the Super Bowl instead of just reaching the playoffs.
