Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning appreciates New England Patriots QB Tom Brady for helping him – NFL News
Before joining the Denver Broncos this year, quarterback Peyton Manning spent an entire season off the field owing to a neck injury, which eventually became the reason for his exit from Indianapolis Colts.
One of the National Football League’s (NFL) best quarterbacks, Manning was badly missed by his team that ended the 2011 season 2-14 in the veteran’s absence.
However, Colts were not the only ones to miss Peyton. In fact, there were many other players of high stature who wished early recovery to the NFL’s only four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Among them was also New England Patriots veteran quarterback Tom Brady, who contacted Peyton while he was nursing the injury and extended his helping hand.
Brady and Peyton are among the league’s elite quarterback and both have respect for each other. They are competitors on the field, but display great sense of sportsmanship off the field.
Peyton recently shared his views about Brady and how he reached out to him during the injury. The Denver Post quoted Peyton as saying about Brady:
“He plays for another team and he reached out to me and said, “Hey anything I can do to help the rehab, miss seeing you out there.”
Peyton added:
“When you’re injured, and you’re not out there playing, you kind of find out who’s with you and who’s not. Tom consistently throughout the season would check in with me. I appreciate that. It says a lot.”
Like Manning, Brady has also been victimised by a season-ending injury. In the 2008 season, Brady injured his knee and was forced to sidelines.
According to Brady, Manning supported him when he was injured in the 2008 season. This may well be the reason that the Patriots quarterback reached out to support Peyton.
Whatever the case is, the NFL fans are eager to see both veterans facing each other this season. The wait for the fans is over as Patriots and Broncos are scheduled to face each other in Week 5 game this Sunday.
Interestingly, both teams are at 2-2 after four games each and both are looking to show aggression to start a winning streak that could guarantee a playoff berth for them.
