Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning excited to get back on the field - NFL News
Four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) Peyton Manning is getting ready to return back on the field after missing out on the entire 2011 season due to a neck injury.
Things have changed greatly for Manning who spent 14 years with the Indianapolis Colts before being released this offseason in favour of number one draft pick, Andrew Luck.
Manning was snapped up by the Denver Broncos who beat competition from a number of franchises to land the four-time MVP.
Currently Manning, along with his brother Eli and father Archie is holding the family’s annual football camp in Louisiana.
The new Broncos quarterback spoke to the media and talked about his excitement to get back to playing this year.
He said:
"It has been exciting for me to be back on the field.”
Adding further he said:
"When you're injured, it's not fun. You're kind of quarantined. It's nice to be able kind of get the reins cut off, being able to participate in OTAs, minicamp."
The Denver Broncos are hoping for a run to the Super Bowl with Manning leading the offence and fans are also expecting big things from the future hall of fame quarterback.
This is a big year for the quarterback and he will be keen to show that he still has the old passing accuracy to deliver in big games like he did before succumbing to injury.
Manning also talked about the challenge of settling into a new team.
He said:
"There's no question it's been a big change, a big switch. It's one I'm trying to adjust to. There's constantly something to learn, something to adjust to, new players, new teammates, new coaches, new surroundings.”
He continued:
“...it'll take some time but I'm embracing the challenge and looking forward to getting to know my teammates more and more."
The Broncos went to the playoffs last year thanks to the heroics of former quarterback, Tim Tebow, however, they failed to progress beyond the divisional round of the playoffs.
With Manning now set to call the shots in offence the Broncos believe they can go further in 2012 and even make it to the Super Bowl.
