Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning praises number one draft pick Andrew Luck - NFL News
Denver Broncos quarterback, Peyton Manning was released this offseason by his former team the Indianapolis Colts as they put their future in the hands of number one draft pick and Stanford University quarterback, Andrew Luck.
Manning as a free agent was chased by multiple teams for his signature but eventually signed up for the Broncos who impressed the veteran quarterback with their plans for the future.
The quarterback on the weekend returned to his former home where he spent 13 seasons, for a charity event and had nothing but glowing words for the young quarterback who is expected to fill his shoes at the Lucas Oil Stadium.
Speaking to the Indianapolis Star, Manning said that Luck would fit right in at Indianapolis and he is a great player for the franchise.
"I think he'll fit in perfectly. He's a great player. He's a great kid. I know he's excited about getting started. I remember that feeling I had as a rookie."
Luck was the top prospect in this year’s drafts and the Colts are looking toward the Stanford graduate to lead the franchise to glory much in the same way that Manning did after joining Indianapolis as a first round draft pick in 1998.
The Colts ended last year with a 2-14 record as Manning missed the entire season due to a neck injury which required four surgeries.
Manning also told the Star that he once again feels like a rookie after joining the Broncos and he is learning the new offence.
"I feel good, working hard. You kind of feel like a rookie again, learning a whole new offense. Unfortunately, you aren't allowed to play like a rookie."
The veteran quarterback was the face of the Colts for a decade as he completely turned around a poor team into Super Bowl winners with his brilliant skills.
Now he will bring those skills to the field for Denver in the upcoming 2012-13 season and hopefully will not face anymore health issues.
The National Football League (NFL) missed the talent of a great player last year. This year though Peyton Manning is back and it will be exciting to witness the great player’s skills on the field once again.
