Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning takes part in first OTAs - NFL News
Denver Broncos quarterback, Peyton Manning, on Monday showed why the Broncos spent so much time and energy to woo the free agent over to the Mile High City while also letting their Tim Tebow leave.
Manning took part in his first Organised Team Activity (OTAs) since more than a year and showed the assembled press pack that he has not lost any of the arm strength or accuracy that led him to be named a Most Valuable Player (MVP) four times in his career.
Speaking to reporters after the practice Manning said that he enjoyed the session.
According to ESPN.com the star quarterback said.
"It felt good to be out there. It's been a while for me. It's been about a year and a half since I've been in uniform, been in an organized practice. So, it felt good to be out there. And it will be a good film to study."
The quarterback practiced with the team’s wide receivers while cornerbacks tried to intercept his passes.
Manning was accurate as he had ever been with only one pass being picked off by cornerback, Tracy Porter, during the practice session.
Coach, John Fox, was highly impressed with the way his new quarterback was settling in and assuming charge of the Broncos offence.
"He's getting better every day. His progress has been outstanding. We're excited where he is. I think he's pretty good right now, and we think he'll get better. He definitely raises all boats, that's for sure. That's not just with the young players, but
with the veterans."
Since arriving to Denver, Manning has got on to work with his new teammates immediately and had already practiced with the Broncos wide receivers.
Optimism surrounding the Broncos chances in the upcoming season is high since the quarterback arrived and fans are expecting a run to the Super Bowl if Manning remains healthy for the season.
With more practice sessions on the way the quarterback is likely to get even better.
Denver Broncos ended last season with an 8-8 record and secured a playoff wildcard berth while being led by Tim Tebow.
If the team can reach the playoffs behind Tebow’s erratic passing it is scary to think what the Broncos can achieve with such an accurate passer in Manning calling the shots this season.
