Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will play full game in Week 17
Quarterback Peyton Manning will not get any rest in the last week of the season with his new team.
The veteran quarterback has always received a handy break during his 13-year stint with the Indianapolis Colts in the final week of the season but it seems that the Denver Broncos do not roll the same way.
Manning is expected to fully participate in the last game of the Broncos against Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday and the franchise wants to ensure victory as they look to secure a playoff bye in the American Football Conference (AFC).
At the Colts, Manning always went off early in the game to give his backup substantial playing time for five seasons from 2004-09 but the same will not happen at the Broncos.
Manning only played the full game in the final season during 2006, the year when the Colts went on to win a Super Bowl.
Denver can secure a second place playoff seed with the win and the franchise wants to put out its best team to ensure victory.
They will face a tough Kansas City Chiefs side, the same that ruined the Green Bay Packers chance last season of going the entire regular season unbeaten, and Denver Broncos will not want the same to happen to them as they look to end up with a 13-3 record.
Speaking to the Denver Post, Manning said that this was another opportunity for him to improve his game.
He said:
"Another chance to work on something. It's just been such a fast-break year. (Offensive coordinator) Mike McCoy is trying to cram five years of experience into one year. I wish we would have played more in the preseason, had those repetitions."
Since arriving at Denver, Manning put off a shaky start to the season and since has looked every inch the four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP).
The quarterback has led the Broncos to a 10-game unbeaten run and the franchise has now become one of the favourites for the Super Bowl.
Manning will be looking forward to extend his winning run to 11 games and enter the playoffs with a bye as well as an unblemished winning record.
