Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow making most of offseason as he trains with UCLA - NFL News
Most players will take time off from the game during the National Football League (NFL) offseason to spend time with friends and family, but not Denver Broncos’ quarterback, Tim Tebow.
Tebow is making the most of the time available this offseason to work on his throwing action, according to a report by
ESPN.
The Broncos quarterback is currently in Los Angeles as he works with University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) offensive coordinator, Noel Mazzone, to improve on his passing as he prepares to put in even better performances for the franchise in the new
season.
The UCLA offensive coordinator said about the sessions that Tebow is just here to hone his technique and become more efficient inside the pocket.
"He just came out here to throw and work on a few things and see if we can just become a little more efficient in what he's doing. Throwing motion, footwork, everything I work on with all my quarterbacks."
Tebow’s pass completion rate this regular season was just 46.5% and those statistics had come under intense scrutiny throughout 2011-12.
With NFL players allowed just limited time in the offseason to work with their franchise coaches, Tebow is circumventing those rules by training with a non-affiliated coach and these sessions have no limits on the amount of practice that can be done.
Mazzone, however, said that he is not looking to do anything different with Tebow and said that the quarterback remains regularly in touch with Broncos’ quarterbacks coach, Adam Gase.
"Obviously I wouldn't do anything that would go against what their beliefs are. I know after coaching quarterbacks for a long time, they're like girlfriends. You don't like other guys messing with them."
The Broncos quarterback took America by storm when he first started for the franchise.
Tebow, a practising Christian, surprised everyone by his signature praying posture before games.
Known as 'Tebowing', the action became the biggest fad this year.
The 24-year-old started his first game of the season for Denver in week seven against Miami Dolphins with the franchise record standing at 1-4.
The Broncos beat Miami 18-15 in overtime as Tebow led the team in a brilliant comeback that skyrocketed his popularity across the country.
Tebow was not done yet though and after a 45-10 loss to Detroit Lions in week eight, took Denver to a six-game winning run with some mesmerising performances and a lot of Tebowing securing the AFC West title for the franchise and a spot in the wildcard round
of the playoffs.
The quarterback cemented his legend with Broncos fans as he led Denver to a surprising 29-23 overtime win over Pittsburgh Steelers in the wildcard round.
The amazing run ended though with a division round 45-10 defeat to Super Bowl finalists New England Patriots.
Tebow though came under criticism from analysts and rival players for his poor passing and he is looking to improve on that aspect of his game as he continues training with Mazzone.
