Denver Broncos WR Eric Decker happy with focus on football and not Tebowmania - NFL News
Denver Broncos were under a tight media glare throughout the 2011-12 season as former quarterback, Tim Tebow, continued to grab headlines and most of the attention was not related to football matters.
Tebow has since taken his media circus to the New York Jets and with the arrival of four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) Peyton Manning to the Broncos things have gotten a lot quieter with most of the attention focussed on the upcoming season.
Even though most Broncos players continued to tell the press that they were not too bothered with the attention Tebow generated the new change has no doubt made players very happy.
Wide receiver, Eric Decker, speaking in a radio interview on Tuesday said that he was pleased that the attention is back on the football with Tebow’s departure.
According to SportsRadioInterviews.com he said.
“Tebowmania. Yeah, obviously he’s earned the right to have conversations about him,”
Adding further he continued.
“I guess at the same time, to be honest with you it is nice just to kind of focus back on football, and we talk football and there’s not — there’s still a lot of excitement here with the football.”
With a four-time MVP now calling the shots in offence most of the excitement about the Broncos is still there and media attention on the franchise has consistently concentrated on Manning and how he will lead his new team’s offence in the upcoming 2012-13
season.
However, unlike Tebow, Manning does not generate controversies wherever he goes and that is something the Broncos players are very content about.
Decker continued by saying that he respected his former quarterback and the attention is squarely on making a run for the Super Bowl.
“I mean, he is a great teammate. I respect him greatly. But again, like you were saying, a lot of the focus right now is on football, is really talking about how we’re gonna form this team to win some ball games next year.”
The franchise looks in good shape ahead of the training camp as Peyton Manning becomes much more comfortable with his new receiver corps.
It will be exciting to see how the Broncos perform in the upcoming season but with Manning calling the shots there is no doubt fans will see some wonderful plays.
