Denver Broncos WR Eric Decker humbled by Manning's praise - NFL News
Denver Broncos wide receiver, Eric Decker is having a great time in the offseason as he continues to practice with new quarterback, Peyton Manning at team headquarters.
The wide receiver has spent most of the offseason after Manning’s arrival to practice catching throws with him and he now has built up a great relationship with the 36-year-old quarterback.
Manning in an earlier interview had suggested that the coaches have planned to give Decker a bigger role in offence this year.
Decker in an interview said that he is humbled by the praise Manning lavished on his abilities.
"It's humbling, coming from such a great player as Peyton Manning... As I build my career, I try to build upon being reliable, being dependable, and also building a leadership role, and now having that chance, that's something I'm going to take advantage
of."
The wide receiver had a rough season in 2011-12 as previous quarterback, Tim Tebow was wayward with his passing having just a 46% complete passing rate.
With Tebow traded to the New York Jets and Manning coming in to replace him, Decker is preparing for what could turn out into his best season as a receiver yet in his three years in the National Football League (NFL).
The wide receiver also commented on the relationship he is building up with Manning and said spending so much time practicing with the quarterback will greatly help him in the new season.
"The more you're together, the better the relationship comes. I think the more football you talk, as well, you get on the same page, and that's the big thing in the quarterback-receiver relationship, is getting that time in the meeting rooms and on the field."
It seems that both players are pretty much assimilated to each other and hopefully both will deliver some brilliant performances as the Broncos get ready for what could be a much better season than the previous one.
The Broncos won the American Football Conference (AFC) West division title in 2011-12 this year they have bigger targets in mind as Manning inches closer day by day to start the first game of the new season.
