Denver Broncos WR Eric Decker says it is "unbelievable" to be around with QB Peyton Manning - NFL News
Indianapolis Colts released quarterback Peyton Manning as they believed that after multiple neck surgeries and an entire season missed the four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) was past his prime.
However, the Denver Broncos picked up Manning in free agency and according to Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker who is working out with the quarterback there is no doubt that Manning still has what it takes to be an elite National Football League (NFL) quarterback.
Speaking to ESPN on Monday, the wide receiver said that Manning is a perfectionist and he is throwing the ball at exactly the right spot every time.
"The guy's still throwing the ball a long time, throwing it great, hitting you in the right spot, He's such a perfectionist. It's unbelievable to be around a guy who has those standards for himself."
It seems that the Denver Broncos got the Manning they wanted as soon as he hit free agency. Vice President of Football Operations, John Elway, wasted no time to start courting the veteran quarterback as soon as he hit free agency.
Manning in the end refused three other franchises to sign up with the Broncos and his arrival has already raised expectations in the Mile High City about the new season.
Decker added further,
“When I got to meet him face to face, the guy is just a class act. A different person. [It's] special to be around a guy of that stature and his ability to play football."
He also went on to say that having such a great leader in their midst makes his job a lot easier.
“I think that, as a receiver, [is] the best thing about it. You got a leader that demands the best out of you because he gives the best he's got."
Denver Broncos ended the 2011-12 season 8-8 after quarterback Tim Tebow took over the starting role and began a recovery for the franchise which looked lost.
Tebow’s heroics got the Broncos the American Football Conference (AFC) West division title and a playoff berth where they upset the Pittsburgh Steelers in one of the best games of the season.
Manning’s arrival though left no room for Tebow on the roster and he was shipped to the New York Jets in return for a fourth and sixth round draft pick.
