Denver Broncos and New England Patriots Collide in Battle of the Quarterbacks - NFL Preview
Two giants of the National Football League (NFL) collide on Sunday as the New England Patriots led by quarterback Tom Brady face-off against the Denver Broncos led by quarterback Peyton Manning at the imposing Gillette Stadium.
It is a fixture no NFL fan will wish to miss as these two great quarterbacks of our time once again renew their long standing rivalry.
Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are both brilliant match winners in their own right and fans of both teams will look to these two to help guide their respective teams to victory in such a crunch encounter.
Both the Broncos and Patriots are 2-2 this season while another huge factor is that both quarterbacks seemed to find their best form last week with both Brady and Manning delivering big performances in their respective games.
Manning seems to have overcome his early season problems last week against the Raiders as he delivered a master class performance to lead Denver to a massive 37-6 victory over the Oakland Raiders.
The quarterback passed for three touchdowns and a season high of 338 yards in the lopsided win and will be aiming for a repeat of that performance this Sunday against the Patriots.
Speaking after the game against the Raiders Manning said:
"The key that I've said all along is just trying to keep making progress somehow. That doesn't always show on the scoreboard -- you'd like to win every game as you're feeling your way and learning about your team and learning about yourself a little bit.”
The win came at just the right time as doubters were questioning Manning’s health and arm strength after two losses against the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans with the quarterback struggling to assert himself in both games.
However, the win against Oakland has once again erased all doubts.
The Denver Broncos overall look a solid unit with the defence putting in a huge performance against the Raiders while the offence led by Manning is a completely different beast to the one Tim Tebow led against the Patriots in last season’s playoffs which
New England convincingly won 45-10.
New England Patriots themselves come into this game on the back of a big performance as they beat the Buffalo Bills by a huge 52-28 margin with Brady once again showcasing why he is the best in the business.
Brady sent three touchdown passes and rushed for one himself as he led the Patriots to a huge second half comeback after they fell behind 21-7 in the first.
Speaking about his upcoming encounter with Peyton Manning, Brady had nothing but praise for the veteran quarterback:
"He seems like he's got this team really in the hunt as well. They lost two very close games and were in it right until the end. He's a phenomenal player, leader and quarterback and it's great watching him play out there."
New England’s defence is a big question mark but the Patriots boast enough talent in offence to trouble even the best defences in the league and a big lead is no guarantee of a win against New England.
This is the biggest game of the week and all eyes will be on the Gillette Stadium this Sunday to watch the epic battle between these two great quarterbacks.
