Denver Broncos backup QB Brady Quinn lets rip at Tim Tebow - NFL News
Tim Tebow may have converted many pundits and fans into believers with his performances on the field this season, yet there is one person who still does not have faith in the rookie quarterbacks abilities.
In a GQ Magazine article chronicling Tebowmania this year, quotes attributed to Denver Broncos backup quarterback Brady Quinn show that he is not happy with his role playing second fiddle to Tebow.
Quinn has been quoted as saying that Tebow’s success is down to simply luck.
"We've had a lot of, I guess, luck, to put it simply."
This, however, is not the end of it as the 27-year-old goes on to tell GQ magazine that Tebow only made the roster in the first place due to the pressure of fans when Kyle Orton was dropped after a poor start.
"I felt like the fans had a lot to do with that. Just cause they were chanting his name. There was a big calling for him. No, I don't have any billboards. That would have been nice."
Quinn also blasted Tebow’s public displays of his religiosity in the article.
"If you look at it as a whole, there's a lot of things that just don't seem very humble to me. When I get that opportunity, I'll continue to lead not necessarily by trying to get in front of the camera and praying but by praying with my teammates, you know?"
The article was published on Tuesday, February 21st 2012 and Quinn’s opinions will not go down well with Broncos fans and team hierarchy as Tebow remains a firm fan favourite.
The rookie quarterback changed the entire complexion of the Broncos 2011-12 regular season. Tebow started for Denver against Miami Dolphins and in a scintillating performance in the final quarter led the Broncos to victory.
This game started America’s obsession with Tebow and after a loss to the Detroit Lions, he led Denver once again to some brilliant victories over the next six games as the Broncos charged up the AFC West table.
Losses in the final three games of the regular season led some to start doubting Tebow’s abilities but those murmurs were silenced in the first game of the playoff wildcard rounds.
The Broncos faced off against Pittsburgh Steelers in the wildcard round and Tebow rose to the moment spectacularly.
The game was tied in regulation time at 23-23.
In overtime Tebow sent a brilliant pass to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas who made a brilliant catch and rushed to the end-zone for an 80-yard touchdown as Denver won the game 29-23.
Even though the Broncos lost in the divisional round to Super Bowl finalists New England Patriots 45-10, Tebow’s legend was secured and the Broncos quarterback had taken over the hearts and minds of millions of fans across America.
