Denver Broncos backup QB Brady Quinn says sorry to Tim Tebow - NFL News
Just a few hours after an article in GQ Magazine quoted Denver Broncos backup quarterback Brady Quinn blasting regular quarterback Tim Tebow and his achievements, Quinn has now released an apology and clarified his position to Tebow through Twitter.
The 27-year-old straightened out his position to Denver Broncos fans on Twitter and claimed that he was misrepresented in the article.
"The comments attributed to me in a recent magazine article are in NO WAY reflective of my opinion of Tim and the Broncos.”
Adding further he said.
“Tim deserves a lot of credit for our success and I'm happy for him. Most importantly, he is a great teammate.”
In the article Quinn has been quoted as saying that Tebow’s achievements of taking the Broncos to the playoffs for the first time since 2005 was more down to luck and nothing else.
He also said that Tebow got the starting position from Kyle Orton earlier in the season more due to fan pressure on the management rather than his performance on the training ground.
On Twitter though, Quinn said that he had talked with Tebow to clear things up and his quotes taken from a three month old interview had been twisted.
"That interview was conducted three months ago, and the resulting story was a completely inaccurate portrayal of my comments.”
Going on to add he said.
“I have addressed my disappointment with the writer and have reached out to Tim. I apologize to anyone who feels I was trying to take anything away from our Team's or Tim's success this season."
The backup quarterback did not get a single game for Denver this season mostly due to Tebow’s success on the field.
Tebow took over quarterback duties from Kyle Orton with the Broncos down 1-4. The quarterback completely changed around Denver’s season, leading them to the American Football Conference (AFC) West Championship and the playoff rounds with some big performances.
The quarterback’s success on the field and his overt displays of religiosity made him a phenomena in the United States with Tebowmania taking over the country for the majority of the 2011-12 season.
