Denver Broncos beat Carolina Panthers 36-14, get fourth straight win – NFL Week 10 Recap
Denver Broncos continued their elite run of form as they thrashed Carolina Panthers 36-14 in Week 10 game on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina.
It was a happy return for Broncos head coach John Fox to Carolina as his team pushed through its fifth win in last six games.
Fox, who coached Panthers for nine seasons before arriving in Denver, went against his team for the first time and looked very satisfied with the way the Broncos performed on road. According to the Associated Press, Fox said:
"You just feel good to win. You put a lot into these things. It is seven days of hard work and countless hours. It's all for naught if you don't win."
Despite getting a good start, Panthers went into cage as they failed to stop Broncos’ offence from scoring.
It was a real team effort from Broncos as they succeeded in putting good performance at all positions.
Broncos’ offence started dominating the game as soon as they got their first scoring move.
Quarterback Peyton Manning scored 420th touchdown of his career and tied to second place for most TD’s scored in the National Football League (NFL). He completed 27 out of 38 passes for 301 yards.
However, the offence got a good support from the defence as well as special teams in putting up a good score.
The defence did a good job in keeping Panthers quarterback Cam Newton away from the end zone most of the times.
Linebacker Von Miller was the most influential defensive player on the field. He got four tackles and a sack along with a forced fumble.
Panthers’ offence failed to adjust with the strong opposition and had problems due to limited time available for making decisions. Giving his views after the game, Newton said:
"This is the same offensive line that did an excellent job a lot of times today, so I'm not thrashing them. I think personally I have to do a better job of getting the football out, getting it to my outlets."
Panthers got off to a great start as Newton scored a touchdown to put up a 7-0 lead. However, the celebrations were ended soon as Manning threw a touchdown pass to level the score 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.
Wide receiver Trindon Holliday extended Broncos lead to 14-7 with a 76-yard punt return. It was followed by a field goal from kicker Matt Prater to end the first half 17-7.
It was all Broncos in the third quarter as cornerback Tony Carter got a 40-yard interception return to the end zone to take the score to 24-7.
Broncos went 29-7 with a field goal and a safety. Panthers did score a touchdown later in the final quarter, but it was too late to have any significant impact.
Broncos ended the game with a touchdown from running back Ronnie Hillman to secure a 36-14 victory.
