Denver Broncos defensive end Jason Hunter sidelined for four months – NFL News
Denver Broncos’ injury woes continue to get even deeper as their defensive end Jason Hunter will be out for four months due to injury on his triceps.
Hunter went through a surgery on his torn triceps on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Hunter hurt himself while hitting a blocking sled on Tuesday, August 14.
Hunter replaced Robert Ayers two weeks ago at the left tackle position. After the injury, Hunter will be replaced by rookie Derek Wolfe.
Broncos’ top draft choice Wolfe has been getting assistance from Hunter throughout the offseason in order to adjust to the pace of the game in the NFL.
Wolfe missed most of the offseason training activities due to NCAA rules which kept him from training with his NFL team until his graduation.
Wolfe expressed his sorrow about Hunter’s injury, while making sure that he will be up to the mark to replace him. The Associated Press quoted Wolfe saying:
"We couldn't do anything while I was out, so everybody had a couple of weeks and the whole spring on me, so I had to really grind when I got here, I had to stay and keep my nose in the playbook and I was sitting with (defensive line coach Jay) Rodgers and
he'd have me write down every play. He's say the play and I'd write it down. We went through the whole playbook like that. It took us a couple of hours to get it."
Hunter, a seven-year veteran, has previously played for Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions. Hunter is not the only Broncos player who is out with injury. Right guard Chris Kuper is sidelined due to a broken left forearm.
Head coach John Fox has announced that Kuper will be out for four to six weeks as he has also undergone surgical procedure. Also, rookie Ronnie Hillman is out after pulling his hamstring.
All three players got injured on the same day, while linebacker Keith Brooking also aggravated his hamstring a day earlier.
Hunter showed outstanding form during the offseason and was expected to deliver a good show this season. His injury comes as a blow for Broncos who were hoping for a good defensive output under Hunter.
