Denver Broncos executive vice president John Elway praises QB Peyton Manning's dedication - NFL News
Denver Broncos signed Peyton Manning last week in one of the biggest and most followed free agent news in the National Football League.
Manning’s arrival has made the Broncos fans automatically dream of reaching and lifting the coveted Super Bowl trophy next season.
The Broncos signed Manning on a new deal worth $ 96 million and traded Tim Tebow to the New York Jets for a fourth and sixth round draft pick this season.
The franchise’s executive vice president, John Elway could not be more pleased to have the four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) on board at the Mile High City.
Speaking with the media Elway a former Broncos quarterback and legend still cannot contain his excitement at Manning’s arrival and also shared the veteran quarterback’s rehabilitation progress.
"It's great to have him there, and obviously he's full of knowledge,"
Adding further Elway said.
“With the new rules, we can only do so much, but he's working hard on rehabbing his arm. And he's been working out, throwing with the guys, and that's the kind of guy he is. He's got our playbook, so he's had his head in the playbook trying to learn, and
kind of combine what he's used and what we do."
Manning is currently working out informally with his new Broncos teammates as he tries to get a heads up on the new season and develop synergy with his offensive line teammates.
The quarterback cannot practice at the Broncos own facility until May according to the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) signed before the start of last season.
Elway though is pleased with the current arrangement and praised Manning’s dedication of getting used to the team’s offence.
He also could not help but feel excited for the opportunities the 36-year-old’s arrival presents and is already looking ahead to reaching the Super Bowl in the new season.
"It's been wonderful. The expectation is there now, and there's a lot of hope in Denver that we can compete with the elite in the AFC and get back there."
With Manning calling the shots at quarterback, the Broncos rivals’ better watch out and the franchise should be considered as one of the favourites to go the distance in 2012-13.
