Denver Broncos head coach John Fox praises running back Knowshon Moreno – NFL News
Denver Broncos head coach John Fox has praised running back Knowshon Moreno for his good performance against Oakland Raiders.
On Friday, Fox gave his views about Moreno’s 100 yards rushing attempt for the third time in his career.
Broncos defeated Raiders by 26-13 in Week 14 game on Thursday. It was Broncos’ eighth straight win.
According to Broncos’ website, Fox had been expecting this performance from Moreno, Fox knew that Moreno is very patient and he will perform whenever he gets the opportunity.
He said of Moreno’s performance in the game:
“I thought he ran the ball very physical, very smart. He protected well, so all in all I think he had a winning performance.”
Moreno carried the ball 32 times for 119 yards and scored a touchdown. Overall, it was a superb day for him.
Over 60 percent of the game possession remained with Broncos, which helped them out a lot in securing the win.
According to Fox, by keeping possession for most of the time, they let the time run out of the Raiders’ hands. This strategy is also going to help them in next games.
Fox said:
“I think that will help us moving forward, you develop a little bit of a mindset. I think it was good for our offensive line -- the blocking elements -- as well as the running backs to be able to do that to close out a game.”
Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was very proud of the last drive, he said:
“That is something we haven’t been as good at the past couple of weeks, including last week. So, to do that (Thursday night), I think we can build off that.”
They have won 10 and lost three games, and they are leading American Football Conference (AFC) West. They are just a step behind AFC South leaders Houston Texans (11-1) in the overall AFC ratings.
Their chances of becoming AFC Champions are very bright, if they continue their winning streak until the end of season.
