Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning looking forward to training camp – NFL News
Denver Broncos have a player who actually likes being at training camp. Quarterback Payton Manning might be one of the few players who have always been upbeat about training with teammates.
Manning does not have any problem with training at some place other than Dove Valley, Broncos’ current training facility. He said:
"I do, I wish we went away. I know we stay there at the (team) facility and we stay (nearby) at a hotel. I've heard Coach (John) Fox and John Elway talk about potentially (moving away) again. I think there's something about going to a different site and
just homing in on football.”
Manning is a type of player who likes to get tough even before the season starts. He wants to make his body work in a way so as to replicate the performance it gives during the league games.
Broncos currently have their camp at their headquarters Dove Valley, but Manning thinks that it would have helped if the camp was located somewhere else. He said:
“It's not as long as it used to be, but there's definitely some team bonding that occurs that I think can win a game for you down the line. Having breakfast with a guy, watching some film in the room with a guy; I think it helps.”
It will be Broncos’ 10th training camp in a row at Dove Valley. Before having the camp there, Broncos trained at University of Northern Colorado for 21 years.
Last year, Manning missed the training camp of Indianapolis Colts after getting a neck injury in January. He has been out of the field for more than 18 months.
This makes him even more eager to participate in his first training camp with the Broncos in order to make himself fit for the tough season ahead.
Broncos are more comfortable training at home because they do not have to pack all of their training equipments as well as supporting technological structure for just few weeks.
Broncos have previously held talks with the Air Force Academy officials for possible shift of training camp at their facility.
This current facility also gives their fans a chance to watch the stars and their game very closely.
Manning is a type of player who not only goes to training camp very happily, but also motivates fellow teammates to do the same.
