Denver Nuggets beat the Golden State Warriors 134-111
On Monday night at Pepsi Center, the Denver Nuggets routed the Golden State Warriors 134-111.
J.R. Smith was the star of the show. He sprung off the bench to score 22 points; Kosta Koufos added 18 points along with nine rebounds while Raymond Felton contributed
15 points along with ten assists. Kenyon Martin, Chris Anderson and Ty Lawson all scored 14 points each as they propelled their team towards a splendid victory.
For the Warriors, Stephen Curry scored 27 points along with five rebounds and five assists and Dorell Wright also added 27 points. Warriors started the game aggressively
and led by 33-31 in the first period. In the second quarter, Nuggets put more effort and tied the game by the end of the first half,
The Nuggets however took over the game in the second half. After outscoring the Warriors 44-37 in the third frame, they pounded 36 more points in the fourth as they
blew the Warriors away.
Phoenix Suns take down the Minnesota Timberwolves in over time.
The struggling Minnesota Timberwolves lost their 13th game in a row with a 135-127 overtime defeat against the Phoenix Suns on Monday night at the US Airways
Center.
Centre Channing Frye played tremendously and notched up a game-high 33 points along with four rebounds, which helped the Suns towards a splendid victory at home.
Jared Dudley scored 26 points; Grant Hill added 21 points while Steve Nash contributed game high 16 assists and eight points.
For the Timberwolves, Michael Beasley scored 26 points; Anthony Tolliver added 22 points and Anthony Randolph scored 24 points along with ten rebounds from the bench.
Timberwolves started the game brightly and were leading by 65-58 at the end of first half of the game. The Suns however fought back and tied the game by 92-92 at
the end of the third period. In the fourth quarter both team added 29 points each, which took the game into overtime. It was all Phoenix in O.T. as they squeaked out an eight point win.
Oklahoma City Thunder defeat the Sacramento Kings, 120-112
On the road at Power Balance Pavilion, the resurgent Oklahoma City Thunder took down the spirited Sacramento Kings, 120-112, on Monday night.
Kevin Durant scored a game-high 32 points along with eight rebounds for the Thunder, while Russell Westbrook added 30 points along with six rebounds and nine assists.
For the Kings DeMarcus Cousins contributed 30 points while Beno Udrih and Marcus Thornton added 21 points apiece.
The Thunder started the game with full energy and led by 24-20 after the first quarter. However, in the second period the Kings came back in the game and took a 57-51
lead at the end of the first half of the game. But, they failed to maintain the momentum in the third period and were punished by the Thunder, who outscored them 36-26. The Thunder never relinquished the lead after that and took the game by eight points.
