Denver Nuggets down Oklahoma City Thunder 105-103 in a thriller: NBA Recap
Oklahoma City Thunder had a fast start to the season but they have slowed down lately. Their recent loss was against the Denver Nuggets, who downed Thunder 105-103 in an exciting encounter decided right at the buzzer when Ty Lawson
rose and fired in a 23 foot jumper to secure the win for Nuggets.
Nuggets were led by a 35 point performance by Wilson Chandler as he went 6 of 7 from behind the arc to lift Denver to victory. Ty Lawson had an off game tonight as he managed only 11 points in his 35:55 minutes on the court, but
delivered the all important jump shot when it mattered.
"I just wanted to walk it down to the last five seconds. Sefolosha was guarding Wilson, so he switched on me. I took the shot and it went in. It felt good, it looked good. That was the best shot I shot all night. I was sighing
when it went in."
Lawson said while talking about his clutch play after the game.
Thunder were led by their guard Westbrook who scored 38 points, Serge Ibaka had 17 points and 8 rebounds and their star man Kevin Durant had an off game, he finished off with 25 points, going 9 of 20 from the field.
Thunder coach Scott Brooks was upbeat despite the defeat;
"He made a contested shot over one of our best defenders. A lot of times we've made that stop. He made a tough shot. They played a little bit better and made one more play than us."
Thunder made a strong start to the game but Nuggets were close by and kept Thunder in check for most part in the first period. Oklahoma City entered the second quarter with a 3 point advantage but were blown away by the quick pace
of the Nuggets, who outscored Thunder 30-18 in the second quarter to take control of the game.
Thunder kept reducing the deficit for the rest of the game and a late fourth quarter rally brought them back into the game; the score was tied on 103 all. That was when Lawson sealed the win for the Nuggets with his clutch jumper.
