Denver Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin in serious talks to play in China during NBA lockout

Forward Kenyon Martin, who last played for the Denver Nuggets in 2010-2011 season, has received offers from two different professional basketball teams in China. Martin is currently an unrestricted free agent and there have been
speculations about his potential move to China. According to sources, if he gets a contract from any potential team in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), he would become the highest paid player in Chinese league.
Kenyon Martin’s Nuggets’ teammate J.R. Smith has also reportedly signed a contract with a Chinese club worth approximately$3 million, but there is a possibility that Martin’s deal would boast higher numbers.
However, no official statement has come from either Kenyon Martin or any Chinese outfit.
The rumours of Martin’s move to China started floating when Martin chose a new agent, Andy Miller recently. Martin had also spoken in the media a few days ago, but in that statement he did not clear his position about his future
commitments.
Martin said, “It’s not on me. My standpoint has been clear for a year now. … Wherever it’s going to be, if it’s Denver or somewhere else, I’m back in the gym working hard every day, so wherever it’s going to be, I’m going to be
ready.”
Kenyon Martin has relatively a good experience in the NBA. He has spent almost eleven years in the league with an impressive average of 13.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Last season, he played total 48 regular
season’s games for the Denver Nuggets with an average of 8.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is currently in a lockout and this work stoppage is provoking many players to play overseas. Many players have already signed with different basketball clubs overseas and the process is
picking up pace with each passing day.
