Denver Nuggets stun Oklahoma City Thunder in overtime: NBA Recap
Corey Brewer lifted Denver Nuggets to a 121-118 victory over Oklahoma City Thunder here at the Pepsi Center on Sunday night. It was a close affair throughout  and Russell Westbrook nailed a three pointer with less than 23 seconds
in the regulation to tie the score and take the game into overtime.
Kevin Durant had one opportunity to fire one in from behind the arc to tie the score in the overtime period and his shot looked good but hit the bottom of the rim and popped out as Thunder had their winning streak snapped.
Brewer had 26 points and grabbed 6 rebounds coming off the bench. Danilo Gallinari added 18 points and hauled down 6 rebounds while Kenneth Faried posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets.
Durant followed up his 52 points effort in the last game with 37 points 8 assists and 7 rebounds for the night. He shot an amazing 20 of 21 from the free throw line. Russell Westbrook had 36 points and 9 assists under his belt
while Kevin Martin chipped in with 18 points off the bench.
“It's the best basketball game I've seen this year. Both teams going after each other and both of them were pretty good tonight. We overcome some situations and circumstances that were difficult. When you give up 50 free throws
and still win it means you're doing a lot of good stuff. It makes us feel like we can be a good basketball team."
Nuggets coach George Karl commented after the win.
It was very tight early in the game with both teams matching each other point for point in the first period to head into the second period with the score tied on 25. Second period had a similar pattern and the Nuggets were up by
a single point at the halftime break.
Nuggets looked sharp early in the second half as they carved out a 11 points lead but the Thunder came back later in the half and Westbrook nailed a three pointer to tie the score on 109.
Thunder had their last game against the Dallas Mavericks also extended into overtime and they were visibly tired tonight in the added time. Faried made a layup to put the Nuggets up 117-116 with 46.5 seconds to go but the Thunder
lost possession and Andre Miller scored both of his free throws to seal the win for Nuggets.
