Denver Nuggets use a balanced attack to pound Sacramento Kings 110-83: NBA Recap
On Wednesday night, the Denver Nuggets continued their excellent run into the season and dominated against the Sacramento Kings for a huge 110 – 83 win. Denver were in control right from the start and just kept on piling the misery
for the Kings at the Pepsi Center, earning cheers from the jubilant home support.
The Nuggets produced a superb team display with 5 players going in double scoring figures while everyone else got on the score card. Al Harrington had the team high with 15 points off the bench while Kosta Koufos registered a double-double
with 10 points and 11 boards. Spanish swingman Rudy Fernandez also put in an impressive shift with 12 points and 8 assists off the bench.
Only two players came out to play for the Kings - Marcus Thornton and DeMarcus Cousins. The guard scored 23 points while Cousins, who is at the centre of a trade controversy at the moment, came off the bench for a game high 26
point effort.
The game started on an even note as both sides traded shots and gave no indication of the blowout that was about to come.
With over 7 minutes still on the clock in the first quarter though, two free throws from Ty Lawson put the Nuggets ahead for a lead they wouldn’t relinquish through the game. A 10 – 0 run by Denver near the end of the quarter cemented
their position as the period ended on 27 – 17.
For the Kings, the situation took a turn for the worst as Denver rolled onto a 12 – 0 blitz to start the second quarter. A hapless Sacramento side tried to keep up with the Nuggets but was behind by 17 when the first half ended.
It was more of the same when the sides came out of the break with Denver launching another foray, this time 8 – 0, to mark the start of the third quarter. The period saw a 10 – 0 run as well by the home team as they looked in complete
control of the match.
The fourth quarter was pretty much a formality and the teams just went through the motions. Denver still outscored the miserable Kings by 25-to-19, finishing the game off with 27 point margin at 110 – 83.
