Denver looks at cost of Olympics in 2022
The city of Denver has recently been informed that the cost of hosting the Winter Olympics 2022 in Denver would amount to a total of $ 1.5 billion.
The news was broken to the city which is considering to make a bid for hosting the Olympic Games in the year 2022 by a marketing company which deals in sports and is based in Colorado.
The estimated amount of the cost to stage the Olympic Games was put forward by Alim International Management Inc. the company reached the amount after having assessed the cost incurred at having staged the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City in the year 2002.
The city of Vancouver also staged the Olympic Games in the year 2010 and they took place in winter as well. The cost that Vancouver incurred upon hosting the Olympic Games in Winter totalled to be $1.86 billion.
The co-committee chairman of the Denver Olympic exploratory committee, Don Elliman, made the following comments on the matter, “We thought it was important to not only present the grandeur of an Olympic games, but also the reality that it is an enormous
undertaking. If we are going to go down that road, we better understand the enormity of the obligation and what you hope to get out of it.”
The members of the Denver committee were given a presentation by the Alem International, Populous as well as the Grant Thornton firms so that a vivid picture should be presented to the officials of Denver regarding the cost involved in making the bid to
host the Olympic Games in the winter of the year 2022.
The Denver committee members were told about problems other than financial which are related or which can be related with the staging of the Olympic Games. These problems include advertising as well as venue issues.
The Olympic Games this year is being staged in the city of London which is having the honour of hosting it for the third time in its history after which it will become the first city in the world to have hosted the Games for three times.
