Denver set to lose star Carmelo Anthony

The Denver Nuggets look set to lose Carmelo Anthony either this season or via free agency the next.

According to league sources Anthony has already made his mind up and will leave the Nuggets, either via trade or as a free agent next season when his contract expires. The Nuggets have offered the forward a $65 million contract extension but Anthony has yet to either accept or reject the deal, and his hesitance suggests he might not accept.

However, Anthony could sign the deal and ask the team to trade him to a team of his choosing or he could refuse to sign the deal and force Denver to trade him. If he does choose the latter option, Denver might have no option but to trade him, ensuring they receive some kind of talent in return.
According to reports, Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke is already aware of his star players' intention and has begun making contingency plans.

Elsewhere, Tracy McGrady has hit out at critics saying his career is over. The 31-year-old has struggled with injuries the past few seasons and hasn't been able to maintain any sort of consistency. But after signing a $1.3 million, one-year deal with the Detroit Pistons, T-Mac says he's ready to show the NBA he can still play.

"It's not like I'm 41 or even 35. I just turned 31. No one has come down and stolen away my talent -- I still have a lot in the tank."

Last season for New York Knicks, McGrady averaged just 9.4 points in 24 games but says this yea will be a different story.

"I was coming back from an injury, and I wasn't healthy enough to play the way that I will be able to play this season. The difference between my knee last year and this year is night and day. Last year when I wasn't recovered, there were two or three games where I was able to take things over for the Knicks. I'm going to be able to do that more this year," McGrady said.
