Denying children health care because of religious beliefs?

I am doing an argument essay on the topic of, parents who deny their children medical care based on religious beliefs. Does anyone have the names of any good books, or magizne/news articles where I could find information on this? I would also like to speak to a parent who has or would not get their child medical care because of their religious beliefs.

Thank you!

  1. I disagree with your previous answerer. Yes, mostly "cults" deny medical benefits for their own reasons, but Jehovah's Witnesses will not allow certain medical procedures even at the risk of death to themselves or their children.

I had an issue with that when I had a play date with a neighbor's child. She insisted that if he was severely injured while I had them at the park that I would not allow certain procedures. I told her if he was in my care, I would allow anything that would save his life. We haven't had a play date since.

  2. Keep in mind that those aren't religions that are involved, but cults.  Religions aren't the same as cults.  Religions don't deny medical care, it's the cults that do so.

Jehovah's Witnesses are a cult group, not a religion.

As I stated, there is no religion that will put stipulations on medical care.  JW is not a religion, it's one of the very well-known cults of America.
