What do you do? I know it involves water, lemon juice.. do you microwave it? I tried that once and it almost burnt me!

I microwaved a Hot Pocket that was burnt on the top and now it smells funny every time I use the microwave.

I wanna get rid of the smell before my guests come.

Suggestions?

  1. Just heat it until it steams not boils and leave it in the microwave until it is cool. I have used white vinegar also. And have left baking soda setting in the microwave for a day or so.

  2. Use a mixture of baking soda and water ( 1/2 cup baking soda to 2/3 cup water)  Microwave on high for 5 minutes, let cool for 2 minutes, then wipe down the entire interior.

    Always works like a charm,

    Good luck,

    Tex

  3. What always works for me is boiling a cup of water with either a couple slices of lemon in it or a couple tablespoons of lemon juice. Just heat it to boiling, then let it sit 5-10 minutes without opening the door. Wipe it out thoroughly with a clean rag. You may want to do this a couple times, but it should work. Good luck!

  4. We have managed to burn some stinky stuff in our microwaves over the years and I have a few tips to help you out.  One, take a microwave safe bowl and put a cup of water in it with a cup of vinegar.  Set the timer to 10 minutes.  Let it sit for 15 minutes, then wipe the insides with a damp cloth.  Set the timer again for 5 minutes, let it sit for 10 minutes and wipe again, getting all the sides, top, bottom, and under the turntable.  If it still stinks, use a cup of water and one sliced lemon in the water, set the timer to 10 minutes and repeat with the lemon water, wiping in between with a damp cloth and some baking soda.  Let dry, wipe with a damp cloth.  The smell is probably on the fan blades inside the unit.  Steaming the smell out is the best way I know and doing it and wiping removes as much as can be gotten to as possible.  Wiping ALL the surfaces of the unit thoroughly repeatably helps.  Most of our smells were gone by the third cycle.  Good luck!
