Question:

Dependent, Independent and Controlled Variables??

Im doing this Science research project and i need to list the dependent, independent and controlled variables for my experiment.

i need help listing them because im really confused.

My Experiment: Im measuring the viscosity of water at different temoeratures by dropping small pebbles in a measuring cylinders filled with different temeratures of water and timing how long it will take to reach the bottom.

  1. Imagine you have two columns to write in for your results table.

    The Independent variable is the one you are planning to change to make something happen. It sounds like you are planning to change the temperature.

    The Dependent variable is the one you are planning to measure each time. I think you really mean you are going to measure the time it takes a ball to fall a set distance.

    Control variables are other things that will affect the outcome of the experiment, which you need to hold constant to make this a fair test, e.g. length of the tube, ball etc.
