  1. Cones should be placed close enough together so as to prevent cars weaving between them. There is a maximum distance, but it has slipped from my memory! There are minimum distances set for advance warning of road closures, but these vary between states and countries. I know of no maximum distance set for such warning signs (I saw one set in the summer warning of a road closure 90 miles distant!)
