Depending to the DM`s adventure storyline does a map have to contain lakes and cities and forests or no because it takes place in the dungeons. plz help I`m new to the game.

so my question is can ppl draw lakes and so ona a map

maps can br just the dungeon or the area around a castle it' up the DM

The terrain features are pretty much up to the GM - it's their world after all. If they decide it's mainly a featureless desert world ala Dune, that's what it is.
