Question:

Depersonalization???? help!?

alright so i think i have this disorder, depersonalization...which bascialy is a feeling of being un real and detached from ones self and everything seems less real..it feels like your in a dream ...i know this is a real condition but i was wondering if anyone else out there feels the same way and how do you cope with it..because it leads me into having panic attacks and sometimes causes vertigo which is dizzness but ya any help whould be nice!! thanx!!!

  1. Depersonalization is a symptom of panic attacks.  It's likely you have panic disorder or a severe anxiety disorder and the depersonalization or disassociation is triggering the attack.  Most of us with anxiety and panic experience depersonalization/disassociation at some point and it is common for it to trigger the panic.

    The best help I can give you is to talk to someone who can go in to more detail with you about what you have, why it happens and what to do.  Medication can help in many cases, but also learning how to work through these episodes.

    Please know you are not alone, and there are others going through this same thing.
