  1. Air fresheners! My husband tells me it stinks.. And I kno this is kinda nasty... but afghan. brings alot of bacteria.. so u might need to get sum toe fungus remover.. alot of soldiers get it bc they wear their boots soo much.

  2. I am not in the National Guard but I have had 3 or four awesome dell laptops. They cost about 1300 with all the extras.

  3. YOUR GIRLFRIEND who loves you, and will miss you soooo much!! The one who supports you and is VERY VERY PROUD OF. The one who will be with you every step of the way, and help you accomplish anything you want in life. I LOVE YOU! GOD BLESS YOU AND THE OTHER BRAVE SOLDIERS!

  4. Good Luck, God Bless, Thank You!

  5. a good surge protector... plenty of cold weather gear - winters coming.... and you will need lots of software to keep you busy - normally things are slow when it's winter in Afghan.....

  6. p**n an mp3 player a laptop and some pc game that dont require internet.  Dont forget the p**n.  I dont know if you are in a Combat Support unit with females but you wont want to touch em everyone gets swamp ***.  And you dont want the herpagonsypalaids now do ya

  7. Was in Afghanistan not with military, but NGO. The water supplies may be better filtered at a base, but what I can recommend is...bring lots of Listerine! I've literally had cases where I've boiled water for brushing my teeth and still woken up in the morning with a foamy, bacteria-ridden mouth. Would pay $10 for a bottle in the local markets there...and frankly was worth every penny. But if you're looking for the little items that you normally wouldn't think of procuring, consider this one of them.

  8. Besides whatever media you choose to bring you should bring cold hard CASH.  Unless you're at one of the big bases like Bagram or Salerno you will find that the finance people rarely make it to the outlying FOBs.  Once every couple of months if you're lucky.

I brought 2 grand and watched everyone suffer every month or so when they ran out of the $300/month you're allowed to withdraw

  9. I've heard toilet paper and other toiletries are often in short supply.

  10. Get a really nice HP laptop with a webcam, 3gigs of memory, a few hundred thousand gigs of ram, and a nice video card.

as for games, what kind do you like? you want to play Doom or Americas Army? Neverwinter Nights 2? Guildwars? Grand Theft Auto?

I would bring a laptop, an ipod, and a small camera (sony makes some good digital cams)
